What to expect, what to bring, and a schedule for the day...

Expect to climb, and a lot more...

A day spent climbing is rewarding, challenging, and always a more than you bargained for. After a day out on the rock you may feel one or more of the following: tired, dirty, sore, sweaty, exhausted, bug-bitten, thirsty, hungry, accomplished, exhilarated, and a little like you wrestled with a mountain. This is all totally normal and part of the fun!

Be ready to be outside all day (read that line twice!), in all weather and conditions (read that line three times!). Unless the forecast is strongly predicting heavy rain or sever weather, we're going climbing! It might be hot and humid and we may be sitting in the sun... It may be cold, windy and occasionally rainy... In the early part of the summer the black flies will be out and eager to meet us. The rest of the summer mosquitoes, no-see-ems, horse flies and hover flies will be out. None of our climbing sites have restrooms nearby, so be prepared to use nature when nature calls.

Be ready to hike. The shortest we will walk to a climbing site is about 10 minutes, at the longest up to 45... We will be walking on trails and generally uphill as we approach the climbing and downhill when we leave. Except for Mystical Mountain somehow that one is uphill both ways.

Be ready to follow instructions and learn. Climbing is dangerous! Most of what we will be learning is about being safe while we are climbing. There will be times when you instructor will need your absolute focus and undivided attention.

All that being said, climbing is an amazing way to experience new things, get outside and explore!

What to bring:

-A small pack t carry their own food, outerwear etc.

-Lunch, snacks and plenty of water (please let Matthew know if they have any allergies before the trip)

-Hat and sunglasses

-Sunscreen and bug spray (They will be outside all day!)

-Appropriate non-bulky footwear for hiking and climbing. (ex: Tennis shoes) No open toe shoes please!

-Comfortable clothing, rain gear and a light jacket if it is cool or windy

What's the weather going to be like?
